All about the Jalsu Pass Trekk

Jalsu Pass at an elevation of 3800 Meters in the western Dhauladhar between Chamba and Kangra valleys. Jalsu pass is the most extensively used route by the Himachali ghaadi shepherds to travel between Chamba and Kangra district of Himachal. The trekking trail passes through long green pastures up to the pass. This not so Famous trail is an experience in itself. The rolling grasslands, sprinkling of conifers, Rhododendron bushes and the beautiful yellow grass flower offers a colorful experience which few only few passes can match. Like other Dhauladhar passes, Jalsu forms the boundary between chamba and kangra district but unlike the other dhauladhar passes its beauty is not the bareness and rockiness but the variety of vegetation it  supports and the color it shows on both side. Just the way Jalsu on the north is different with its gentle trail the view are different as well the spectacular meadow atop the Jalsu pass trek and enroute offers a mesmerizing view. Jalsu Trek is the perfect introduce to Himachal Himalayas


    On day one after meeting and greeting our team at Dharamshalawe will drive to Baijnath(uttrala) by jeep. On the way we will cross one of the pilgrim centers of Hindu because of very ancient temple of Shiva Vaidhyanath (lord of Physicians) and beautiful tea gardens. Overnight Dinner and Stay at Uttrala

  2. Day 2 DAY 02: UTTRALA TO PARAI (2390 MTRS) (8KM 4-5 HOURS)

    After breakfast we start the trek from Utrala to Parai (2390 mtrs) the trek trail weaves all along the Parai nullah having gentle climb. Parai is an temporary encampment for the shepherds. Overnight Dinner and Stay at Parai.

  3. Day 3 PARAI TO YARA GOTE 3800M, (8KM 4-5 HOURS)

    After breakfast we start the trek from Parai to Yara Gote (cross over Jalsu pass – 3600 mtrs.) Jalsu pass is an accessible pass and is easy to cross, trekkers jalsu is most beautiful area with lots of green pasture and water around. Local people establish seasonal tea stalls to the help the trekkers and pilgrimage. Overnight Stay and Dinner at Yara Gote.

  4. Day 4 YARA GOTE TO SURAI VILLAGE (2788 M) (9KM 5-6 HOURS)

    Post breakfast we trek from Yara Gote to Surai village (2788 mtrs.). The trek descends from Yara gote to Surai having dense forest of mixed variety. This region is also famous for collection of medicinal plants night halt in tents. Overnight and Dinner and Stay at Surai Village.

  5. Day 5 SURAI TO NAYAGRAON (2245 M) (6KM 3-4 HOURS)

    Surai – Nayagraon, the trek to Nayagraon, few villages at intervals, the trek descends steeply at places and from Ravi onwards a jeep able road. Night stay in village house or in tents.


    Post breakfast we will drive from Nayagran- or Chamba by jeep/Bus. End of a memorable trip!
