All about the Kareri Lake Trek – A wilderness trail

Nestled around the beautiful Dhauladhar, Kareri Lake is a Glacial Lake fed by the melting snow of Dhauladhar peaks .
Kareri Lake is High Altitude fresh water lake. Situated at an altitude of 2950 meters to the northwest of Dharamsala in Kangra District of Himachal Pradesh. As the Melting Glacier form the main source of this Lake, the lake is shallow and water visibility is very high Quite often the lake beds can be seen in most of the places . Nyund is the main outflow of the lake.
Kareri Lake also serves as a base for onward trekking to Chamba, Bleni Pass and Bharmour.
Trail to kareri lake is Majorly uphill and at some stretches quite tiresome, but is surprisingly beautiful and mesmerizing along with the sound of the lapping stream, the enchanting forest, and spellbinding flowers beds.
The trek route to kareri lake mostly follows the Nyund stream and you will absolutely love taking a break every now and then, to dip your feet in the cold water.
The Lake remains frozen from December to mid-March. During which only exclusive Snow Trek is possible.
The experience to kareri lake is surreal, to say the least.
